Long story short: In March 2011 I walked 330 miles of the Camino de Santiago, a 1,200 year-old pilgrimage route in Spain. I lived with very little for 3 weeks. I experienced nature, art, and history. I met people from all around the world on the same simple quest - to …

Poetry, short stories, plays, novels, history, philosophy, science, not necessarily in that order, classics that are worthy of discussion, current and past, western and non-western, these are the works we discuss. The discussion is what is most important. We discuss these works to enlarge our understanding of the ideas that shape our culture and gain a deeper appreciation for what it means to be human.

If you are looking for a strenuous workout, then this group is not for you! If, however, you are like me, and you prefer the relaxation, gentle exercise, and conversatio …

His successors continued to develop the Dharma, creating new schools of thought and practice. In the current era, we have an unparalleled access to the teachings of many schools of Buddhism, even extinct ones lost in previous centuries but surviving in texts and artifacts of their time. Rather than enshrining any one tra …
