Welcome, Washington History Buffs!

History. History is the study of past human events and activities. Although this broad discipline has often been classified under either the humanities or the social sciences, it can be seen to be a bridge between them, incorporating methodologies from both fields of study. As a field of study, history encompasses many subfields and ancillary fields, including chronology, historiography, genealogy, paleography, and cliometrics.

Now that we got the technical out of the way, its time to bring us together and socialise. Traditionally, historians have attempted to answer historical questions through the study of written documents. We will continue the tradition - minus the documents [most of the time].

This group has been set up to bring historians, scholars, history geeks and all those who have some keen interest in history. There will be history discussions, leactures, talks, happy hours, houseparties, dinners and other things posted to give us an avenue to hang out and talk about history.
