    •  Very fine lecture this afternoon by David Stewart. Most memorable point- Rutledge of S Carolina appears to have been a key figure-- arguably THE key figure -- at the 1787 convention. many other noteworthy observations were made by Mr. Stewart. however, because I disagree strongly with the post-modern point of view espoused by Mr. Stewart, I could not be fully in sympathy with all elements of his presentation. He mentioned Lincoln favorably, and I will just note that Lincoln venerated the founding documents, including the Constitution, and venerated the men who wrote those documents--- consider Lincoln's famous Cooper Union speech as an example. For Lincoln, a post-modern interpretation, diminishing those documents, and the men who composed them, would have been anathema. Personally, I agree with Lincoln on this (and on much else.)
